I have an opportunity to get a 302 block that has already beenm bored 30 over and has the right sized pistons and rings. The block is from a 1975 car, will it still work for a 91 F150 with speed density? I'm not build it to race, just slightly better than stock. Keeping speed density but might try to upgrade to GT40 or GT40P heads. All help appreciated. Thanks
yes they will work just don't put the heads on backwards and you will wave the right holes. but you will need take the mechanical fuel pump out and put a block off plated in it's place. they have them at oreilys.
your oil dip stick is different, use the truck cover and u wont have a dip, use the other one the dip might not clear the brackets. try to get your pan modified with a dipstick hole like the later cars

I went thru this.
Heres what I found.
most everything will work. I had to swap the water pump to get the brackets to bolt to it.
I had major problems with the serpentine belt so I went to a more simple v belt setup.
Reason I did this was to dump the ac and the smog pump.
I went to junkyard after junkyard huntting the brackets...no 1 had them
I finaly broke down and called ford and they actually still had the brackets I needed in a warehouse in TN
fairly cheap
The dip stick I just used a aftermarket chome one.
Filled it up and marked the oil level full on the stick with a file.
Heres another note on this
When you plan this swap figure out how long you think it will take and double it.
Take that number and double it again.
My two week project has turned into almost 3 weeks now due to huntting parts and cold crappy weather
i know this is very strange but a chevy big block has the same blocking cover for a fuel pump as a ford small block the seel them at autozone for like10$ about the biggest thing is going to a 91 if u use the serpintine system u have to get a reverse flotaton pump in 87 the changed the flow along with putting the serpintine belt system so get a ater pump off a 91 and should work fine.
i believe the main difference in the blocks are the 75 block is it made for a 2 piece rear main seal where something like 82 on up are made for one piece rear mains.
