We just picked up our 2025 XL F-250... nice truck, for the most part. One of my complaints, however, stems from using CarPlay, and trying to use the radio...
My 2023 STX has a 'Home' button on the radio controls. If the system is in CarPlay mode, with my iPhone up on the display, and I want to turn on the radio or change a station... I mash the Home button, the screen drops out of CarPlay, and I get the Sync menu... where I can navigate to Source, etc, etc.
The 2025 XL does not have the Home button... although there is room for it, that button is blank. When Sync is in CarPlay... I have no way of getting out of it to get to the Sync menu. I've tried every combination of button/buttons/holding my tongue right/planet alignment... and nothing. If I want to turn the radio on, or use the Sync menu for something, I have to disconnect my phone from CarPlay to allow the Sync menu to appear... rather a nuisance.
Is there some way to get out of CarPlay to the Sync menu that I'm missing?

So what I found was that if on the car play screen you push the bottom left icon it takes you to an apps screen which you can than go to the audio screen, hopefully I added the pictures correctly
Yes, your XLT radio stack would be the same as my STX (my top photo.) The Home button is on the upper left, then Bluetoof, then blank screen. My XL is missing those 3 buttons... in their place are a blank button, the hazard lights, and disable traction control... which are above the screen on both your XLT and my STX.
That button is for the tone control on the stereo. It does take you out of Android Auto/CarPlay but you it's not really a "home" button.

Yes that method has always worked but it basically takes 3 presses on a touch screen to do that. I'd love a 1 button method. I have no idea why there isn't just a button along with the other buttons on that side or bottom row that just takes you right out of Android Auto or CarPlay.
While in CarPlay select the “apps” icon….. then select the “Ford Syncn 4.0” icon.
I'll have to give Dave credit for the correct response, and then golfnujetsfan... I was just to slow and stupid to see it.
While in CarPlay, you have to switch to the multiscreen... that pulls up the apps, and the Ford app is there. Mash that.... and it takes you to the Sync menu. I never understood why there was a Ford app, I thought that was for FordPass.
Sorry I wasn’t able to follow up more. Currently caught in rain the Mississippi trying to get home. Camping / driving in the rain is a major downer / distractor.
I dont really understand why Ford made the menu to get to the radio this way as well. But through trial and error I think I am now able to go back and forth ok.
