I am in the market for an F-150 and had a question. I have found one but it's been in the NE all its life. It's got really low milage but a little rust on the undercarriage. I'm the SE so not too used to that. What do yall think? Its only got 22K miles on it for a 2015.
I'm in SE WI and around here that is considered almost new. Just surface rust. Salt residue does not just wash off. It could be neutralized with a colored rust preventive spray like woolwax and it would appear as new and stop the oxidation process. I see no problems here.
That is not bad rust for a 2015. If you purchase that truck, power wash everything underneath very thoughly with warm water, then again with warm soap spray, then again rinse thoroughly with just warm water. The water needs to be warm. Then let dry very thoroughly and apply oil or woolwax. I would re-apply the oil yearly.

What if im taking it back down to ga with me. Still apply woolwax and do it yearly?

I was considering the truck would become a southern truck. I would do the oil at least twice and then you can monitor the old rust. It may not need oil every year, depending on where you travel. I never used woolwax, only oil, so i dont know how long woolwax lasts from just rain water highway spray. When I was stationed down south and back in the states, I took my Jeep everywhere from the beach to the mud, so I cleaned and oiled underneath often even though it lived in the south for a few years. If everything else about that truck is good, don't let that little surface rust prevent your purchase unless you have something better to choose from.
That's not bad for a rust belt truck. The white residue is probably from salt and you can buy salt wash solutions that will clean that off or it is just hard water spots.
If it was me I'd wash the truck really well and after it dries apply some Fluid Film or WoolWax and call it good. Reapply once a year and the rust should never get much worse.
ETA. Even if you never did anything I doubt the rust would get bad enough to compromise the parts unless you plan on keeping the truck another 15-20yrs.
It's not that bad. Have it steam cleaned, then treat the frame with some Fluid Film or something similar. Doubt you'd have to treat it more than that first time, except for touch ups.
