4wd vibration

I was messing around with the 94 bronc, with the 351w, and I engaged the 4wd high. Winter is around the corner.... Well the vibration was terrible. It comes on around 25mph and is almost undrivable. The system works well but the vibration can't be right.

Any ideas. This is my first 4wd and I am a little green.

thanks, doug

I would check out the universal joints on the front drive shaft and then the axles.

On dry pavement? Not recommended, but I don't know if that would cause the vibes.

Do the gear ratios and tire sizes match front & rear?

Like they said before, check the front driveshaft and the joints in the front axles. There is also a bearing in the spindle where the axle shaft comes through. If it is bad, it allows the front axle shaft to flop around in the spindle.

The rig worked fine and I have replaced most of the front end, ball joints and the rest. But nothing has changed since last winter so, the gear ratio's should be fine and the tires match. We are suppose to get 3" of snow tonight so I will try it on the snow.
