I was curious if someone could help me with wheel and tire recommendations on a 1965 f100. I started restoring my great grandpas 65 f100 and I have done disk brakes and put a 5/6 drop on the pickup. I was curious what wheel size and tire size and offset can I go with that won’t rub on turns and bumps. I wanna stay as wide as i can even if the rear can be wider then front. The motor has be redone and will have serious pony’s and have a tremec 5 speed on it. Thanks for the help.
These are Wheel Vintiques 17 X 7 with 4" backspacing in front, 225/65 tires. Rears are 17 X 8 with 4" backspace and 255/65 tires. 4" drop all around, and disc brakes up front. The fronts fit perfect. Perfect size, perfect offset, at least for my tastes. I coulda went 17 X 9 in back, and maybe a 275 X 60 tire. There is a lot of room. I've seen people go 10" in back, and with the right offset, I think it would be OK. Most I've seen have too much offset to the outside and close really close to the fender lip or even stick out. I've also seen people with 8 inch wheels up front that stick out.
It's a matter of pleasing yourself. The photos can give you an idea of fit with these particular wheels. May not be your style, but it's an example
Thanks for the advice. That atleast gives me a starting point for my pickup. Kinda hard to figure out what will fit without trial and error. Your pickup looks sharp.
In thinking about swapping these out for 17” smoothie wheels- same color with center caps so it will closely resemble what I have. I’m pretty sure some lowering was done but the previous owner was very unclear as to what was done. Don’t think he knew for sure
