I currently have a Hydra chip that Full Force tuned. I'm less than satisfied with the way my transmission has responded. It shifts CRAZY hard in all positions except stock and towing mode, and rolls a fair amount coal (which I wouldn't mind keeping off my boat). The trany itself is fresh w/a billet converter and a shift kit. The truck has stage 1 injectors, intercooler, upgraded HPOP, CAI, 3"DP, 4" straight pipe, etc.
They are telling me I can pull the chip out (PITA as you know) and pay them to make tuning adjustments until I'm happy. My instinct is it should be done right the first time, but maybe I'm wrong? Am I using the right chip/tuner?
The Hydra is definitely the way to go. Never used Full force. I went with Jellibuilt tunes. I like the tunes I have, but I have a manual so idk how they are with an auto.
When the chip was installed a data cables should have been routed from the chip to an accessible area so that you can plug a computer in and download tunes onto the chip without having to remove the chip.
I have hear gearhead tunes, out of the 2 performance tunes the higher end tunes shift smoother for me. I plan on tracking my data while driving and send it to gearhead so that can provide a more custom profile.
Apparently Hydra has a tuning library one can download from on their site. I just found mine after looking all over (it is okay to laugh)
Current tuning sounds like they added entirely too much line pressure atop of mechanical line pressure addition via the built trans. I was taught too much is bad and can hammer on the internal hard parts, conversely too little is not good either
Anyway, Gearhead is a good tuner. I have heard good things about AA and Jellibuilt too.

Can you help me out with that data cable you are referring too? This allows you to install a new program with a laptop? Thank for the help !!!

You are 100% correct, and I have an intermediate shaft that is snapped in half to prove your point :-0. The library you speak of, is this available for all to see? How do I find it? Thank you for the help !!
There is a port next to the chip. My cable came with the Hydra chip install kit. I routed the cable to under my steering wheel. Sorry no pics. It's a USB on the computer end. Can't remember what type of connection on the chip end. I haven't used the cable yet. My chip had downloaded custom tunes when purchased after I sent them a list of upgrades on my truck. I bought the chip from Bitterroot and they took care of the download part fore through gearhead for me.

Thank you for providing more details. I have a long "extension" cord that allowed me to place the tune controller in the ashtray. Is it possible that is where the computer connects? Maybe I do not have to remove the chip? I will say the FFD told me I had to remove it and send it back to them, which I really didn't want to do time and time again until I get a good tune.....
This black computer cable would be entering the cab at the same location as the ribbon cable that goes to the chip. Both cables terminate in the PCM near each other.
So if you don't see a black cable near the ribbon cable then you would want to install one for the ease of future troubleshooting/uploads.
My Hydra is also in the ashtray. I forked over the $100 for that kit because is was tired of the sticky Velcro falling off the dash. Plus it's a little more hidden.

Are you happy with the kit? I wanted to conceal mine as well, preferring less clutter on my dash. I'll check into cable further. Thank you the help !!!
The Titan unlock is the expanded library for Hydra. You do have to pay for it. Around $150 the last I looked at it. You can easily add the programming cable if it is not installed.

Is it difficult to add the cable and the programs? Not sure where to start? THANKS !!!!

adding the cable is not hard, but you will probably have to remove the PCM in order to add it. You will need to download the hydra flash program. Easy to do. I think it is still available on the PHP website. While it is apart make sure you get your pcm code and the serial number for the hydra.
