Oil pressure problem
Hey guys! I'm new here and I'm posting for my Dad. He has a 1995 F150 manual w/ inline 6. He is having problems with his oil pressure gauge fluctuating. It goes to Hi for a while, then LO, and sometimes it will stay in the middle range, which is where it stayed before this started happening a few days ago. He replaced the oil sending unit, but that has not helped. He doesn't think its the oil pump because he has heard no knocking. What ya'll think? Short somewhere? I figured I'd jump on here, maybe you guys know of a problem with this year/model. Thanks a bunch for your help. -Maccer

I've heard a bad ground connection to the instrument panel can cause that. Do any of the other gauges wander in unison with the OP gauge? That's what my 89 does, but I haven't tried to fix it yet.

That is true and I mentioned it to him. He's checking the grounds this morning. I called him last night and he said the pressure was back in the normal range when he drove it yesterday, so this is an intermittant problem. If he cant find a ground or a short in the wiring, then he's got no choice but to buy a mechanical gauge.
