Ford has unveiled a new supercharged version of its 7.3-liter V8 that’s rated at more than 1,000 hp.
The V8 was originally launched in Ford’s heavy duty trucks with the Godzilla nickname and 430 hp and 475 hp, but that was followed up by a crate motor called the Megazilla with 612 hp and 670 lb-ft.
Now Ford has added a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger that cranks up the power and is billing the new version the Megazilla 2.0. Unfortunately, it is for track and off-road use only and not street legal, but it does give Ford a competitor to Mopar’s 1,000 hp supercharged 426-cubic-inch Hellephant V8, which is certified for both racing vehicles and classic car builds.

Prices for the two engines have not been released, but they will be available through the Ford Performance catalog in late 2024. A standard Megazilla lists in it now for $22,995, while a 760 hp supercharged 5.2-liter Raptor R crate motor is $29,500.
