well i get home from work today and sit down to read the new jc whitney mag. and what do i find they are now carrying and advertising cherry bomb mufflers for the low price of 19.99....i have never looked into these mufflers before but my buddy keeps on telling me to buy a pair and throw on the ole' 78....does anyone know how they would sound on a 351m with headers and true duals?.as well is 19.99 a good price for them?...thanks in advance.
i heard the cherry bombs on a 69 mustang with 3 inch exhaust and headers
it sounded ok when he was taking off but it didnt have the low rumble of a flowmaster 40 at idle.
thanks for the info i am looking to make the truck as loud as possible but not an annoying loud i will be running 3" exhaust with the cherry bombs (if i buy them). so anymore info is much appreciated.
they sound pretty decent i run true duals(2 1/2) on my 351w with hooker headers and shes got a good bark to it when you step on it ohh and i got my bombs for 15 a piece at fleet farm
Yeah it'll sound fine as long as you get longer ones. The thing to remember about glasspacks is that the longer they are, the deeper they sound. If they are short, then they sound poppy. I wouldn't get anything shorter than 24" and I'd look for something like 36". It won't be as loud but you'll be happier with the sound quality. Also remember they have a break in period. Also go ahead and put in an H pipe and some long 3"ish tips while you're at it, both of these will smooth the sound out. And you can pick up glasspacks at kragen's for 20 bucks anytime.
kragens/shucks, depending on where you live. I didn't think it was a big deal I see cherry bombs for 15-25 bucks retail. and as for the break in period, it's anywhere from a few weeks to a few months in which the fiberglass packing inside the muffler burns out. It will get louder during this time.

Yeah i can see now that was sort of misleading.....
