Have you checked all your brakes and make sure you don’t have a hanger? Greased all the slide pins. Any oils coming from seals anywhere?

Winter fuel blends always affects fuel economy like that.

Most definitely winter blend fuel as a lead factor. Its been a lot colder the last 3 weeks depending on what part of the country you're in. Typically speaking, the third week of January is the coldest week of the year.

Winter blend fuel, The strength is made in increments, examples the winter blend fuel that's produced in October, The southern market won't be as strong as the northern market say for Texas versus Minnesota. As winter progresses, The Texas blend starts getting more winterized, the same with Minnesota as we move towards January.

As I understand it fuel is winterized to 20° colder than the average for your area.

Winterize fuel, has less BTUs then summer time fuel.

Chances are, You idle more/ longer when it cold out.

My Diesel generators, which usually have a 24-hour run time with an 80% load, won't make 22 hours in the winter time.

Gas/diesel is usually cheaper in winter than summer, if that's any consolation.

I'm with the others, winter blend fuel, tire pressures and longer idle times especially if you are remote starting.

Actually, diesel is always more expensive in winter due to extra cost of blending for those winter blends, plus home heating oil demand is much higher, driving cost up due to lower supplies.

That doesn't seem to be the case in my area... it jumped up quite a bit a while ago and it's finally coming back down, but still not quite to what it was.

And yes, I agree with everyone else: winter blend, colder engines, lower air pressure in the tires, maybe just a little more idling than normal. My mpg's took a little bit of a dip about the time the $ went up.

So what MPG drop are you seeing? A 40 mile drop per tank is not relative being a lot of different size tanks. Maybe someone is siphoning fuel from you?

I agree with some of the above maybe remove the trailer for a bit to see if mileage increases significantly?

Mike
