I went out to test my glow plugs today and the darn wire broke off when I went to unplug it from the glow plug. Looks like I'll have to replace the wiring harness, it was old so probably time for it anyways. Anybody got recommendations for a good glow plug harness? I've only found one on Amazon so far, which feels a little sketchy to me
bullet style crimp connectors with heat shrink tubing to seal them. then use a pair of pliers to close the opening a bit to make it fit on the glow plug tight.
cost to do all 8 plugs is around $5 if you do not have everything already.
Last July when I was replacing the GP`s on the 86. The side of the edge of the flat connector
that slides onto the flat spade of the GP, broke off. I crimped on a new connector onto a short
piece of wire and heat shrinked it. then spliced the 2 wires together and heat shrinked them.
They don`t give you much wire to work with.
There are several sellers that make after market Harnesses. Classic Diesel Design makes them
for 6.9/7.3 NA and for turbo`s.
Well, as someone mentioned you could just replace the connectors. If you want a bulletproof system go with spade style plugs, spade connectors on your wire harness (custom made easy to do) and a manual glow plug button. The spade plugs run 12 volts and the bullet run 6. I have two wire harness's laying around. I could fix them up for you and sell them to you if you would like.
