Hello, I have a 1994 Ford ranger SuperCab, 2.3L, 5spd. I have an illuminated check engine light I tried to jump the "EEC TEST" to diagnose codes but no matter what I try the codes wont flash. I turn the key to the "on" position and it just stays illuminated solid. I will attach a picture of how I have it jumped. I believe I am doing it correctly. I took out my multimeter but I am not the best with electronic diagnostic. With the key "on", For the "Signal Return (ground?)" I stuck the multimeter's positive lead on the positive side of battery and ground in the signal return port and it completed the loop at 12.6v. However, when I tried to test the "Self Test Input" I put the multimeter's negative on the negative battery terminal and the other in the Self test input port, it completed the loop but only at 5v. not sure what exactly that may indicate or what my next step should be. Thanks for any help in advance!
I looked up some stuff about the meter test, watching the needle. But it seems like watching the CEL in the dark gives the same information. The source is the same. Have you tried the flash counting method?
