Piston Stop and Big Problem

My 292 y block on my 1960 Ford F350 does not have clear markings on the crankshaft pulley. I decided to use a piston stop to find my TDC. It was working great, I was moving clockwise and then counter and finding my two marks. At one point while rotating the crankshaft I felt some resistance, I thought it was just compression becasue I was a long way from where TDC should be. So, I muscled it through. I finished my marks and tried to backout the piston stop which should have been easy but the bolt could not be removed by hand. Cleary something had come in contact with the piston stop, there was a nick on the bolt threads. I put the truck back together and started it up and I have noticeable ticking noise. I am assuming the piston stop came in contact with a value. Any ideas?

I would also try posting this in the Y block forum. Y-Block V8 (239, 272, 292, 312, 317, 341, 368) - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
