Head gasket replacement
When I test drove it, it ran great. No over heating. Nice and smooth. No smoke. I did notice the heat was lukewarm at idle, but the owner said he felt there was an air pocket in the system.
I bought it. Bled the system and it seemed to do better but it's back to losing heat at low rpm. I noticed losing coolant around the reservoir, and replaced the cap. Then I noticed the system holding massive pressure even after sitting all night. Today I did a combustion gas test. It turned yellow.
Still runs fine , hasn't ran hot at all. No milky oil. There is a tiny bit of foam in the coolant. It's going to the shop tomorrow. I expect them to confirm my blown head gasket assumption.
Can the gasket just be replaced? Does the head need to be checked? What are the odds it's just the gasket? What am I looking at money wise?
thanks in advance.
