now my speedometer will only go up to about 40 mph reading even if I'm going faster it won't go higher I assume it's the speed sensor that's in the rear diff needing to be changed it seems pretty accurate up til it gets to about 40 mph then the needle like sticks there and doesn't move any higher the faster I go.......
So I just went ahead and put a new speed sensor in the rear diff hoping that would solve my speedometer issue but unfortunately it still won't go over about 40 mph no matter what my actual speed is so where/what should I goto and check next?
could be a broken tooth in the cluster? Either way, I think the only other thing could be the cluster itself, not sure
There's not anymore speed sensors anywhere else i.e. transfercase or maybe tranny or could it be a wheel speed sensor doesn't each wheel have one on it also?

On my truck, the front wheel speed sensors affect the speedometer reading. Is the ABS light on?

no abs light..when im on the highway it will eventually go above 40 but it goes all the way to whatever it tops out at on the speedometer then just bounces around after that point it's definitely no accurate by any means
