Talking Newbie

Hello!

I'm Chris and I've had Fords since I started driving 22 years ago.

I started with an Explorer, then switched to an Expedition, then an Explorer Sport Trac, and now an F250, all 4WD. They've had their issues, but they've been awesome. While I may, at times, rail against their engineers for seemingly silly things (like having to completely disassemble my engine's air intake and filtration in order to get to a headlight), they still make fantastic trucks (and SUVs based on them).

I'm a mechanical engineer by trade & training, and my fellow students were and current colleagues are obsessed with and extremely knowledgeable about the fine details of cars. I, on the other hand, was a soldier and wanting to work in defense, so my interest was less in the fine details of how cars and trucks worked and more in how to blow them up.

I've slowly been working toward more offroad and overland-like use, lurking here for some time to soak up some knowledge, and generally trying to fill in the gaps that I should've learned a long time ago. I'm looking forward to actually conversing with folks here!

Chris

Good to see you here Chriss. Enjoy surfing the threads that interest you!

Most all these vehicles have very difficult to replace halogen headlights. It's like a waste of time trying to replace those Halogen bulbs.
Loosen the front grill, to get the head light assemblies out to try to fix,

or just put in new ones with all the bells and whistles to not have to deal with the clouds in the old is only a hard couple hours to finish. They look great then.
Its mostly the same with the Fog lights, just put new assemblies in them to replace those cracked cloudifed oldies. Those halogens run so hot !

Hi Papa Tiger! Thanks for the reply!

After my F250 burned through three or four sets of halogens of different brands and quality levels, in about 9 months, I switched to some LED lights. It's a 2021 model, and I don't have much yellowing or crazing yet, but it's just about inevitable. I live in southern Arizona, so clouding isn't really a problem for me! When they eventually do start yellowing, crazing, I'll take your advice and find replacements that will last a long time.

Thank you!

Chris
