Mudflaps (Splash Guards) HD vs Reg

Was going to order some mudflaps with my points and have 2 different options. A regular and a HD. About 40 bucks between the two. Anybody seen the HD version?

Its just a difference in material, I think they cover pretty much the same area. Looks like both are mid tire down. From the pictures, the regular may be similar to WeatherTech formed fitted,

and the other might be more like those heavy material ones like on a Semi.

The photo looks like the HD aren't molded like the regular. I've never seen the HD before. So I guess one's choice would depend upon their uses for the truck.
Personally, I've had a few sets of the regular molded Ford flaps. Often swapped them over from one truck to another at trade time. Zero problems for the way that I use a truck, which basically means that I don't off road with it.

Not sure what came on my 2023 F350 but they are too short to block a lot of debris. Instead of scrapping new flaps, I made extenders for them. Now they block most of the debris from hitting the truck.

Gatorbacks have worked out well for me. I believe Ford sells them as their HD style.

I had Duraflaps on my 2016. Looked almost new when I traded it in 2023. Wide and long enough for good protection. Don’t have any pictures. Priced less than others but not what I would call inexpensive.

Whatever the OP decides on, just make sure its got aluminum compatible hardware. A good set will use existing holes to mount a bracket inside the fender to attach the flaps to and not screw into the metal itself. If not, go through the work to protect the paint from rock chips only to have the fender corrode by the flap.

Not a fan of the gatorback (HD)

Every truck I have have the HD flaps, from my previous F150, to my current 2024 F25, the flaps caused tires to rub on them. I actually removed the dealer installed HD flaps that rubbed the stock tires, and while I prefer the HD in theory, they always seemed in the way.

HD Mudflaps

I have HD's on my 02 f350 DRW and love them. I am installing Gators on my new F450 CC DRW as soon as the weather gives me a break. My only caution is to not lower them too much as they will catch on a curb, a rock.

My dealer wanted $500 for the molded flaps & $1200 for the "truck" flaps I'll buy & install my own before I pay either of those prices

I have a fleet account at my local dealer so I got the Gator HD Platinum for 380.00. Ask you local dealer for a fleet price or search online. Install looks to be fairly simple. HNY!!

If they're the same Ford molded flaps that I've installed on the last several Super Duties, that's absolutely insane. You can get them for nothing with FordPass points from a new truck purchase and install yourself relatively easy (no drilling) for free.

Your dealer sounds like crooks taking advantage of people with high parts markup and inflated shop hours. The no-drill install is easy.

I agree...I love the Gatorbacks and super glad I went that route. I also agree that they may be an OE supplier for the HD version as they look very similar

I like them too, but I wasn't paying the $1200 that my d(st)ealer wanted for them installed
