Recently purchased a 2024 Platinum. Using Apple CarPlay and have the radio on, I send a text using voice to text. The radio goes silent as it should while voicing text, once text is sent the system should revert back to the radio playing but mine does not. I have to push audio and select source to get the radio back on.
Is this normal? All of my other cars revert back to whatever I was listening to.Anyone have a fix for this?
Ive encountered similar making or getting a call while on car play, or Sirius. I have a door cam at home and have the same thing happen when I pull it up as the phone takes over voice and audio.
I've got an Android instead of an iPhone so I only use the Android Auto. I don't use it every time I'm in the truck but when I have used the text feature it's always gone back to playing the music on its own.
Maybe try deleting your phone and pairing it to the truck again? Maybe it could reset something and work like it should?
Just guessing here as I always say I'm tech-tarded.
Im not having this issue on my 2024, using the wireless CarPlay. I didn't see this on my 2016 F-150 wired either on Sync 3 with that USB replacement.
I have had issues getting my phone to connect if my wife's connects last on the 24 though, it's probably a software issue related to it. Have you tried just using a cable to see if it still happens?
The text features seem to work for me. Sometimes the truck will not connect to car play. It will connect via Bluetooth so the truck sees the phone but for some reason won’t allow car play connection. It’s not occasional so I’ve just been dealing with it. I’ll try the delete idea and see if that helps.
This is minor compared to the issue I have with my 13 Max Pro. I no longer get notifications, from anything. Only get texts and call alerts. Nothing else works which is super annoying as I use PINGID at work and even those aren't working properly. Reinstalling the app got me partial swipes, but none of the other apps I reinstalled are working. So whatever is going on, could be related to the latest IOS updates.
I have learned to accept the fact that my damn iphone does whatever it wants to. Occasionally it does what i ask but normally it does whatever it can to **** me off. Ford Sync has learned well from apple, it can very easily **** off a person anytime, anywhere. I have learned that I am not allowed to “command” my truck infotainment to do anything, i only ask and see what happens. Kinda like my wife.
You’re probably doing it correctly, but one thing to avoid is using the Ford voice system to send texts. Hold the voice command button for 3-5 seconds until Siri pops up. Have Siri send the messages.

Quick update. . .
I only use Siri for voice texts. I did a factory reset and removed my phone. Reconnected but still having the same issue. My other vehicles will revert back to whatever I was listening too. I guessing there must be a setting that is preventing it from reverting back to audio.

That's how I do it as well... and usually have few problems. It does have a mind of it's own... either Sync or the iPhone. I've said it before (and I will continue to...) but the Sync software is trash, and I suspect the hardware isn't that great, either, and particularly when compared to the Apple. Think Commodore 64 level...

The push-and-hold-for-some-number-of-seconds trick seems to be crucial here. On my brother's Toyota RAV4, it's exactly the same: If you just push and release the voice command button on the steering wheel controls, and start blabbing away, it will make an acknowledgement beep, but you are talking to Toyota's stupid and useless voice assistant. However, if you push AND HOLD the voice command button for 2-3 seconds, it makes a different acknowledgement 'beep' and now you are talking to your phone's voice assistant, Siri (who is also stupid and useless, but at least she interfaces with your other iPhone apps).
On my Tundra, it took me the longest time to figure out that just pushing the Cruise Control 'ON' button put me in Radar Cruise Control, but pushing AND HOLDING the same button would put me in normal (radar-less) Cruise Control.
It seems to be a thing these days, that the "long hold" action on a functional button is utilized to provide an alternate, but related, functional behavior. What a time to be alive.

I actually just say hey Siri text full in the blank. I haven’t used the bottom on the steering wheel. I’ll try it to see if it will revert back to whatever I was listening to.
