fuel gauge

My fuel gauge gives false readings, think it finally gave up. But before I replace it I want to check the sender, so anyone know which wires on the harness go to the fuel gauge in a 79?

crawl under the truck and pull the sender wire from the tank. Ground it momentarily while someone watches the gage. It should go to full and above if the gage is working.

will try that. Another question of curiosity, what is the P.C. wire the Haynes manuel shows in its diagram?

I have 2 1979 Ford trucks and a Haynes. explain more on p.c..wire because I never heard of this.I also have the diagram from Motor.
