The Real Issue
What is the main cause of the oiling problem? I've heard and read all different things. Some say it's the groove in the center cam bearing, some say the bearing gets spun and out of alignment with the hole, some say it's the oil jackets in the block and head, some say it's the rocker arm, etc. What is it, and what's a solid and reliable fix?

In an old engine with yesterday's oil, and not being changed, it can be all the above, if rebuilding a Y block today, with a modern cleaning process, all passages are clean. New bearings installed, if the cam uses the center groove, have the groove made a little deeper,and wider, make sure the rocker shafts are super clean inside, as well as the rocker holes. Use a good quality oil, filter, and change it like it should be.
