Inner Rocker Alignment

What point of reference do you use to align new inners? My aren't going to fill all of the rusted areas (dog legs) so I didn't know how to align them exactly. Does the middle of the inner align with the middle of the outer, or?

just for myself,
what are you terming a "rocker" ??

I can think of "rocker arms" in the valve train,

and the Slider bars under the doors for off-road use

I would say since the inner rockers have the holes for the clip nuts that the running boards need to be secured, that would be a good reference.

Yeah I assumed that was my best bet but didn't know if there was a trick I was missing.
