We have an early 6/99. On registration it is considered a 98.
We are installing a new HPOP, IPR, ICP, WTS, and the new lines. This is the set that we ordered.
Our engine does not have a crossover line attached. it has plugs in both ports.
Iin your best knowledge, would you install the crossover line, or will it make a difference?
I've had a crossover line installed since at least 2012 with no issues or leaks. I does and it doesn't create new leak points because you are just replacing 2 plugs that could also leak. o-rings will eventually fail as does everything.
As to whether is worth it or makes a difference...In theory it is better for the truck but I haven't noticed anything different. I personally would save the money for something else. There are thousands of trucks running just fine up to 1/2 million miles all stock.
It's your money though. If it makes you sleep better at night, go for it.
I do not remember where I purchase mine...my choice would be strictly diesel (if they make one), Riffraff or CNC fab.....in no particular order.
Nope, it's just 2 more leak potentials and if you remove the anti drain back springs and cups just inside the HPOP when you take the lines off there, it does the same thing the HPO cross over does. Be careful which lines you get given most are the el cheapo chinese crap. I bought the Crude Diesel Performance lines out of Florida as he hand makes each crimp with Eaton hose and guarantees them for life.
it is a 99, but trucks made before july have some different gaskets and such, So you get parts for the 98. One in particular is the gasket for the HPOP. the eaqrly 1999 did not have a screen built into it. where as the latter half of 99 did have a screen.

The screen in hpop didn't start until sometime in mid 00ish. My l99 has the non screen gasket.

So should we remove the springs on the hpop lines then, the directions say to go ahead and remove them with the new updated lines.?????

With aftermarket fittings at the hpop you HAVE to remove the springs/buffers, as the fittings are not bored out to fit the springs and will compress the spring into the pumps discharge port and block off flow.
My truck was first sold in 98, and is registered in Klownifornia as a 99, with a build date of 5/98. It has all the quirks referred to as the early 99 on any parts search. I believe the main difference from E-99 to L-99 was when intake and turbo went from 2 1/2" to 3" but some parts may have changed before and after that. Tech. folder has the change at motor #896812 as 99.5 late model, mine is #749145.
