Angry '75 progect

in the proces of changing intake man* gaskets, and taking the time to mark the dis. and rotor locations to prevent timing the motor. a friend turned the motor over and now i cant find out what intial timing should be,sticker is gone frome valve cover

what an air head i forgot to state the engin size. which is a 390. also is there a dif. in initial timing between an electronic and a point type egnition

You install the dizzy the same way with points or electronic. Pull the #1 plug (farthest from firewall on passenger side), roll the crank clockwise with a finger over the sparkplug hole untill you feel a blow. Stop when the 0° mark on the balancer lines up with the pointer. Put the cap on the dizzy and see where the wire to the #1 cylinder lines up. Take the cap off and put the rotor on. Instal the dizzy so that the rotor points to the #1 cylinder wire (it will turn a bit while going in). Satrt the engine and set the timing to spec (found in owners manual, Chilton, or Haynes manual). If you can't find the spec just advance it until it pings on acceleration and then retard just enough to stop the pinging. This will get you in the ballpark.

Geeze, you gotta give folks time to read and respond. None of us monitor this stuff 24/7.

thanks for trying to help.I kind of know how to do that would like to know how many deg. befor tdc it should be set at.
