CPP sells one. I used it in my 4x4 with 35" tires & it does a fair job of turning them. I'm sure in a 2wd application, it would be perfectly smooth. It mounts in the stock location, but is a bit larger than the stock gearbox, so it might be tricky to mount if you still have the manual tranny with hydraulic clutch. It will probably be awfully close to the slave cylinder.
Thank you for your input. CCP doesn't make an engine mountain kit for the 6 cylinder, no one does. Checked with Alan Grove no. Guess I'm going to the gym and built up my arms!!
I don’t know how far from stock you are or are looking to go, but people have been putting electric power steering kits in a wide variety of cars and trucks. Might be worth a look.
I've seen several write-ups in the 67-72 forum on installing a Prius electric power steering system...
While I haven’t completed it yet(&and it’ll be a while to get it driving), I’ve seen a lot of happy people using it in other forums and vehicles. On Land Cruisers, it seems they’re good for up to 31-32” tire on similar weight vehicles. “If” I have all my parts, it’ll be under $200. I found a Prius at the pic n pull and scavenged all the parts I could. You’ll need an adapter u joint or two.
You will have to cut your steering shaft and it will likely interfere with column shift linkage. Otherwise, it’s just a bracket and twelve volts- no plumbing. If it fails your back to Strong Arm Steering, but not stranded.
