Due to sliding out of the seat the lever that allows the seat to fold/move forward snapped off. I don't know anyone who can weld so would replacing the spring mechanism be something I could do myself? Are there any instructions on how to do this?

This appears to be a fairly common problem. That's good ol' Ford craftsmanship for ya! Here are a couple of links that provide step-by-step instructions on how to fix your problem, as well as a discussion about the issue. Unfortunately, it appears that many of the pictures that accompany the instructions are now just broken links. I have the page saved on my hard drive though, and if the pictures don't come back in the next day or two, please e-mail me (via my "profile" link) and I can e-mail you the pictures or the whole page in "mht" format. I would just send it to you, but it's quite large for an e-mail attachment (I think about 2 megabytes) so I don't know if that's OK for you or not. Just let me know.
