Srayed bed liners/Do it yourself ?

Has anyone painted there bed (duroliner, hercules) instead of paying $400+ to get it sprayed?

I put a do it your self bed liner on my last truck. It is a easy job took around 2-3 hours to complete. On the down side they are real thin. Would use two kits insted of one if I did it again. On my new truck I had a Line-X sprayed in and I feel it is a better liner. The Line -X was $400. and two Huriliner kits would be $200.Still I feel the Line-X is better.

I've got to agree. If you are going to spend the money to protect your investment, go with the professional job, either lIne-x, Rhino or one of the others. If it's just for looks, the do-it-yourself is probably okay, but if you haul stuff, it's going to wear thru pretty quickly. I have had the line-x on my last 3 thrucks, and nothing much hurts it. I even had them spray my toolbox, inside and out. Not only does it match the bed, it doen't get Aluminum dust all over everything, and the stuff inside stays where you put it.

I would suggest line-x over rhino just in the fact that rhino tends to be softer and more suseptible to tears. My neighbor has rhino and loves it although we haul different stuff,,my .02c

I did the do-it-yourself paint-on bed liner in my '59. Looked good for a while (3-6 mos) then once I started using the truck for errands and weekend projects (trash runs to the dump; landscaping/gardening, etc), it scarred and dulled pretty quickly. It works and you could probably make do with it on a beater truck/work truck but it doesn't have near the durability of the professionally sprayed liners.

IMO, go with the professionally sprayed liners. Worth the difference in price.

Did you guys have it sprayed just inside the bed up to the bed rail without removing the rail protector or removed the bed rail protector and had it sprayed on the bed rail too?

I had an Inyati bed liner sprayed on my Tacoma, over the rail, looked real nice and was durable. Hauled landscaping rocks the size of footballs and soccerballs and didn't even scratch it!!

Pretty sure I'm gonna go with them again. Just don't know if I'm gonna have the bed rails sprayed too or not.

The rail edge under the plastic pieces is unfinished. Just a bunch of holes for the retaining clips. I'd leave the protectors on.

Thanks for the help. I might consider the spray-on. I got a quote of $375.

Hjudge, How much did you pay to have the tool box sprayed?

I had the dealer put a Rhino in mine when I bought it. Has been great. Slid a 2000lb pallet of shingles across it, not even a scuff. Even spilled gasoline on it once, and didn't discolor or anything.

ultraclassis: I did a package deal with the place for the line-x bedliner, the toolbox itself and the spraying of the box, and traded in a smaller sprayed box, so it's kinda hard to say what it cost total was about $400 difference. But the guy is a buddy. I also had them spray the metal top on my dog box so i don't bust my fat butt when it's wet.

I've had an Inyati liner in my Toyota for 8 years and put everything imaginable in the bed of that truck - rock, firewood, leaky motorcycles. Just take it to the high pressure car wash and it looks good as new. Of course I had the dealer pitch the plastic tub they put in my 350, in favor of a Rhino liner. Have yet to see much difference in the materials between the two suppliers, but I would say that my Inyati was thicker overall. With the detail the pros do on these jobs, I would gladly pay somebody the $150 difference to be hassle free. My .02
