ok this is the first winter i have my truck so i am wondering how much weight do you guyes put in your rangers? its a 96 3.0Lv6 5speed (non 4x4) thanks for any help
I always used 3 60# sand bags with my 2WD when I lived in mountains. 150-200# of whatever should be perfect as long as it's secured and don't put it all against the tailgate, place it either directly over the axle, or distribute it evenly between the axle to the tailgate, and left to right as well.
Assuming you don't have a limited slip axle, it is common to use close to 200 pounds. But I don't anymore after replacing the rear springs. I've notice it also affects the braking ability on ice.
You get use to drive without the weight. It really doesn't give you the drivability advertised.....
If you have the limited slip axle....why bother ?
But you should try it with and without the weight, and make your own mind about the advantages and/or disavantages of such a practice.
Drive safe.......
