He's got a big enough web presence where that relationship makes sense for both Optilube and Dave. Good for him.
But I've got 130k miles using K100D and I'll stick with that... and everything I need for fuel is in one additive and you just double dose for the winter time.
I also run rebranded Better Diesel aka Max Mileage from Pittsburgh Power...
I've been using Opti-Lube since 2008 also. How do you know Dave's is repackaged Opti-Lube?
And $65 for 6 small bottles is expensive. It's been a while, But I think I was getting gallon jugs of Opti-lube for about what he wants for 6 small bottles.
I might have to stick my head in his shop and ask about, I drive past it every day.
if we are going to call it Dave's secret sauce....what did he add to it????
I'm going to say it's OptiLube's All in one formula because it's in the same bottle and the label is changed enough to be different but is still similar.
But I'm just spit balling... so who knows. I'm sure he didn't come up with his own formula, but just making money now selling what he uses in his trucks.
My guess is that he's paying a license fee to Opti-Lube and rebranding/labeling the XPD product with his "Secret Sauce" label (thus the extra expense; gotta recover that license fee). I'm also guessing that Opti-Lube is requiring that certain verbiage remains on the label, as it's their product after all.

Off the to of my head a check valve in the oil pick up with the intention of keeping more oil in the upper end of the engine.
I don't believe he ever addressed, IIRC, what it was but I remember thinking a check valve myself... because that only makes sense to keep oil in the top end of the engine.
