Joined yesterday I have been looking around for a week. Just purchased a 56 F250. Runs and drives but needs some garage time. Engine, trans and rear end have been changed and not original.
on the top of the list:
Replace heater core
rebuild steering linkage and front leaf springs
locate and install stock seat assembly - Can the sliders from 53-55 be modified (angle cut in rear) to fit a 56 with in cab tank?

56Waco, welcome to FTE the best Ford truck forum on the World wide Web!

Post some pictures of your new truck.
Heater core: call Carnegie Radiator in Carnegie, PA. https://carnegieautorepair.com/ give them exact dimensions of your core. They will cut you a chunk of core. Then you solder your old tanks unto the new chunk.

Seat sliders: you presently have 53-55 sliders? I would think you could trim rear of the sliders to fit the 56 gas tank.

Looking for seat

The seat and sliders in the truck is not original. No where close. I am looking for a complete seat frame and sliders.

56 sliders fit 53-55 but 53-55 will not fit a 56 unless you
1 remove gas tank
or
2 angle cut to clear the gas tank

Thank you, I was not sure if there was enough metal to cut off the 53-55 sliders to allow the angle needed. I can't find any mention of anyone doing it in the threads. And not having a set to look at I was not sure.
I plan on keeping the gas tank in the cab, so I'll be on the hunt for original seat and some sliders.

I have seen It done a few times. Most times it crudely done. I've seen angle cut and notch cut. Either way works fine

I have not researched them. Told it's a 351M, but not sure of trans and rearend. 3 speed automatic and a 9" out of something.

Looks to be the size and shape of a 351M/400. If you were told 351M, it's likely true. No one would lie about that if it were a 400. It usually goes the other way around. There are no external differences, just the stroke of the crank.

The most likely 3 speed auto trans would be a C6. It has a square shaped oil pan with a corner notched out, as seen here. If yours looks like this, there you go.

If the rear end is a 9" with the 5 on 5.5 truck bolt pattern wheels, the whole drivetrain was likely donated from a 77-82 F150. There may still be a tag on one of the center section bolts that would ID it. If you could find that and post a pic, we can help.

Cool truck! I take it the clutch pedal is just there for looks if it's an automatic. Welcome to the forum!
