I have a 2001 crew cab F250 with a 6" skyjacker lift running 35's. The right front hub assembly failed on me with a bearing that tore up the insides causing damage to the disc brakes making grooves on the rotor and seizing up the hub. Has anyone had similiar problems. Is it because of the lift and bigger tires that could have caused this to take place? Is there a better aftermarket hub assembly that I should use that will beef up these parts to keep this from happening again? Any info would be great
It seems to be a rather common problem with these trucks.
An aftermarket solution is the SD combo by www.dynatrac.com It's supposed to be a great improvement in strength over stock. The site has a complete detail of what is included. It works for trucks with 6-12" of lift, and includes crossover steering and trac bar relocation. It is rather pricey though.
