2013 F250 6.7 PS. Replacing the leaking lower oil pan gasket. After dropping the pan there is a metal object that I do not know what it belongs to. Pictures below. I don’t see where it could’ve fallen out of. Thanks in advance for any help.
Wow, that object is like finding a scorpion in your boot or a dead skunk in your well. My first thought was it was the magnet end of an articulating/telescoping reach tool that we use to pick up stuff we've dropped. But I think it is too complex in design to be one of those. Can you provide a size reference?
And was the engine running OK before you began the gasket job?
Tom

yes engine was running fine, no out the ordinary noises. We just decided to get the gasket issue taken care of during it’s scheduled maintenance.
pin is 1” 3/8 long and 3/8 wide
not sure if you are the original owner or not but looks like someone was doing some work and lost part of a lifter at some point....that would be a bit scary to find.
