blend door motor
I have read some of the posts and fixes for this, but a little confused as to what the blend door actually does. Does it control temperature or does it control/direct airflow to the correct vents according to the setting on the vent / temperature control on the dash?
The airflow will change when a different vent (heater, defroster, panel) is selected. I just simply get cold air.
Temperature gauge shows normal reading, both heater hoses under the hood are warm to the touch.
I was screwing around with the master window switch yesterday and then this now occurs. This has me thinking that I blew a fuse though I pulled them all and they are good.
I just find it incredible timing that my blend door got nuked at the same time I was working on the window switch.
Does anyone know what fuse the blend air door actuater is on?
I just hate like hell to tear apart the actuater (to try to do the 1 hour fix) only to find out that it is NOT the problem and somehow can't get the actuater back in the correct way (ie making a bad problem even worse).
My Limited has over 180,000 miles on it. The air conditioning compressor just locked this summer and I will not be investing the $$ to get it fixed.
All I want to do right now is get some heat, no matter how much "butchery" is involved. I will gladly just disconnect the heater hoses running into the firewall in the summer, so having nothing but HEAT is OK with me.
Thanks from the Windy (and getting windier) City
This morning discovered my 95 Explorer Limited would only blow out cold air.
The guys over in the Explorer forum should be able to help you!
Good luck!
