63' Straight 6 install
I just had my 63' F100 engine rebuilt.I have the engine back in and mounted to the tranny. What must I check before trying to crank? This is my first time to ever pull an engine and rebuild. Any tips or tech advise would be much appreciated.

I like to spin them over without spark plugs installed and the coil disconnected. Check for noises and leaks. This primes the carburetor and oil system. Install the plugs and connect the coil. Check that the distributor is snug but can be turned by hand. Locate the fire extinguisher! Fill the radiator with water and have a hose handy to add more water. Loosen a heater hose as high on the engine as possible, this will bleed air out of the cooling system when the engine starts. Be ready to tighten the hose. Look one more time at the fire extinguisher! Fire it and let it idle at about 12-1800 rpm. Watch for leaks, listen for noise, hold your breath!
