2009 XLT Heater Code Replacement

My need to replace my heater core on my 6.8L V10 XLT. I have located a YouTube by "Heartland Mechanic" video that details replacement of this core but it includes replacing the evaporator core and recharging the A/C system. Is it possible to replace just the heater code without having to recharge the A/C side? Just trying to save a big chunk of money on the A/C recharge. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Nope, it's all housed in the same box behind the dash, the heater core and evap both have to be disconnected.
