Alternator trouble
I believe and it sounds like you have a 2G (fire starter / FS) ALT
1 of the plugs would not make a good connection heat up, melt the wires and catch fire.
Because of this any new / rebuilt ALT has this plug built into the ALT and is no longer a "plug in"
So some cutting of wires is needed and there is some information in here on this.
As for the pulley just swap them over, this is normal.
An impac will take the nut off and on. If you dont have a 1/2" one, good time to buy one from HF.
The electric one I just got works great when I had to pull a tire on a trailer and did not want to run air hose out to it and use my air power one.
I also got a 3/8" impac driver for smaller jobs.

As much as it pains me to do so, I must agree with Dave. Don't worry about the pulley. With an impact gun (and possibly a puller), it should be no big deal to swap your existing pulley to the new alternator.
Bring the old Alt with you, they will change over the pulley if needed.
If you need, that should help. Notice "C186" for the regulator is wired differently then on my 86 302EFI. When I put the new connector on, I kept the same hookup as from the factory.
Oh, I see you are new here, Welcome to the Forum. Here's where we get a lot of info from. https://www.garysgaragemahal.com/
The two guys above are a couple of the "go to guys" here's. This place is great because of members like them. You have to be careful with Karl, praise will go to his head...
Maybe check Advance or Auto Zone. Maybe call and ask if the Alt has the integrated connector. You Do Not Want the OEM style.

Do you have any extra loads, or just normal stock items like headlights heater fan?
