I did a brake job on my 68 F250 and everything went well. I was a Ford mechanic in my youth. Recently I drove the truck for about 10 miles with the parking brake on. It has a 390 so I couldn't feel the drag and stupidly couldn't figure out the odor until after about ten miles. Now when I apply the brakes they shutter and as I come to a stop they begin to lock up intermittently. My question is do I need to turn the drums because they may be warped or arc the linings or both or is there some other solution? Thanks in advance for any advise that someone can give.

Would have to start with a tear down. Inspect the drums. I'd probably figure on shoes no matter what, because they are cheap while it is apart. Then decide on drums based on color and run-out. No one arcs shoes anymore. I can tell you're an old timer by that reference. Most techs today would just stare with a blank look on their face if you mentioned arcing the shoes.
Also, did you do wheel cylinders when you did the brake job? The grabbing and locking is a classic sign of brake fluid contamination from a leaking brake cylinder. More so than from over cooked shoes.
Thanks Hotshot, I was afraid that would be the case. Yes I replaced the wheel cylinders and the front calipers and the drums are new. I think I remember the parts guy telling me about not arcing the linings anymore. Not only am I an old timer but the memory is fading also. Thanks again for your help.
