Blizzaks?

Moving back to Alaska one of the first thing we did was buy Nokian studded winter tires for our Camry and Expedition. Pricey, but well worth it. Happy with our choices.

New truck should be here in a month or so and I been thinking of going with Blizzak's since it will not be driven much in the winter plus we already have two other vehicles with studs. In addition, the Blizzaks are half price of the Nokians. When the truck is driven it will mostly be on packed snow.
Anyone running Blizzaks on their trucks? How do you like them?

Have them on two cars and they are phenomenal. The best winter tire we have used. We live in the country and our roads are not maintained very well in the winter. I cant imagine they would be any different on a truck. I wouldn't go back to a studded tire.

I think that you would be very happy with Blizzaks. Had one car set. They worked well. Very soft though! Don't "stretch" the season.

Had them on an F150 RWD and they were great. Except on slickery ice, the kind that has that thin wet layer on it, nothing stops on that crap.

We have them on my wife's Mazda CX-5. They are wonderful in all conditions. We do not change them during the non winter months and our first set lasted about 50K miles before needing changed. (Although the CX-5 is rather light weight vehicle)

27 years in Fairbanks. I would not have anything other than Blizzak’s. Moved out 15 years ago and left behind the extra rims and tires. Initially extra rims versus the cost to change seasonally made sense, but not towards the end. In fact my annual mile became so low I would not buy rims or change over seasonally unless I got take-off rims real cheap.

I’m in northern Alberta so probably the same type of winter weather. I’ve ran the blizzak LT on a SD before and they are great. You’ll get 30k miles from them and they work great on ice and packed snow, not the greatest in deep snow but that’s what Chains are for. 100% would buy them again, I’ve ran studded Nokias on a SD as well and they were better but not worth the cost difference in my opinion.

I had a set of Blizzaks on a 2008 Chevy Malibu and they did great but seemed to wear fast. On our Chrysler Pacifica I went with the Michelin X-Ice3 and really like them too - though the last few years in NE Ohio the winters have not been bad enough to swap out for them.

Blizzaks do melt quickly in warm weather, the only downside to running them. I got 2 seasons and possibly a third had I been able to stop on ice in time to avoid a head on. Won't know how well the OEM will do on my DRW until it snows. Too bad y F-150 wheels don't fit my Dually! LOL I could mount Blizzaks on those.

I run Nokian studded on our Camry and Wife's Expedition and they are fricking awesome! But they sure are pricey. I can buy 4 Blizzaks for the F350 at Costco for $1100 and the Nokians are almost double. My truck doesn't see much use in the winter is why I am considering the Blizzaks.
