While taking a trip this evening in my 2020 F150 Limited, we stopped to get something to eat and brought it back to the truck to eat. Turned the ignition on, and after about 15 minutes, the battery went dead. I waited a few minutes, tried to start it up, but the battery was to weak to turn the engine over. Opened the hood and within about 30 seconds, a guy in a Ford truck stopped and gave us a jump. Once back on the road, everything was normal, until we stopped for gas.
When I got out of the truck, the running boards on both sides did not deploy. Same thing when we got to our destination. In and out of the truck a couple more times, still no running boards.
I seem to remember reading something about this issue in the past, and there was a mention about resetting something to do with Sync settings, but I don't see what Sync would have to do with this issue????
Any ideas what the issue might be?
Thanks
I agree, typical battery failure signs. Did your auto / start/ stop quit working? If original, it is time. If not, start with having it checked and charged.
15 minutes on a 4 year old battery is asking a lot from the remaining Battery total capacity.
What was being used with the Ignition on.
Radio, Lights, Fan etc.. PCM and all the electronics are powered up with no charging taking place..
There is a limit reached at some point.
Don't do 15 minute on a new or old battery without the engine running.
Good luck.
Thanks for all the info/tips guys. Went ahead and got a new battery since its over 4 years old.
Many times I have taken a to-go order and eat in the car to listen to something on live radio. Very seldom do I keep the ignition on more than about 10 minutes. The radio would be the only power source on at that time
