97 Explorer 4.0 Battery keeps dying
This is really weird and very frustrating. A month or so ago I came out to start my Explorer and it was completely dead, no interior lights, nothing. I put the booster on it for a few minutes and it started and off I went. All the gauges were normal, the alternator is working fine. A couple days later I go back to start it again and its completely dead. This has been repeated many times over the past few weeks. I finally put a new battery in it and I've still got the same f***ing problem. I can't figure out what could be drawing power from the battery when everything is turned OFF!!! It just doesn't make sense. I have an aftermarket keyless entry/alarm installed. It was on the vehicle when I purchased so I don't know much about it other than I can't seem to get the alarm part to work quite right but its never caused a problem. Whenever the battery goes dead and I put power to it this alarm gets the lights flashing but the mechanic said thats what its supposed to do. I also have a stereo system installed in the vehicle that can draw some power when its on but of course its not on when the vehicle is off. I have had no problems with my current configuration for months until now. Has anybody run into anything like this? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.

Try this test. It will tell you if you have a drain on the battery. If you do have a drain, start by pulling the output wire off the alt to see if it's causing the drain. You can also pull each fuse out of the fuse box to see if one of them makes the test light go out, to try to narrow the drain down.
