Problem W/93 Explorer Factory Alarm
I have a 1993 Ford Explorer with a factory installed alarm system. It has apparently gone bad. For several months, it would arm/disarm itself at random, chirping the siren at 2am and waking up my entire apartment complex. I don't use the alarm, so I just removed the siren. Then, it started acting up when you shut off the engine, it would lock, unlock the doors 3 times in a row quickly, and would not let the doors lock again until you restarted and shut off the car. Over this past weekend, I was changing my front brakes, and as I was putting the last tire back on, it did the lock unlock thing, even though the car had been off for at least 2 hours, and the keys were not in the ignition. It started fine, but then when I came back out to start it up and get the brake fluid moving through to get the air out of the lines, it would not start. The alarm key fob will not arm/disarm, and the kill switch will not disengage, even using the bypass hidden under the dash. I tried disconnecting the control module and reconnecting it, and now it just sits there flashing the lights, as if the alarm was triggered. I'm sure the siren would be going off too if it was still connected. So now it sits, battery disconnected since nothing works.
Does anyone know how I can remove the alarm system so I can start the car and just lock the doors manually?
Please help!!!!!!!!
