went offroading yesterday, everything fine, but when i tried to turn off the 4 low range or 4x4 pushing the buttons, they remained on and engaged, had to travel about 30 miles home on low range at about 30 miles per hour max, by the way i was in deep water for a long time, about an hour helping another truck, its a 1992 eddie bauer bronco, anyone can help me on this, as i live in mexico, theres no much help here on this kind of trucks.
your gonna have to pull the tcase engagment motor out and make sure its working properly. you better also change the fluid in both diff's and tranny and tcase as well being in the water for that long.
good luck, try and pick up a haynes or chiltons manuel for you bronco
got the tcase engagement motor down, cleaned it, changed all oils and its still in 4 low, tested the motor and works properly, but
when i push the buttons nothing happens, when it worked a click behind the glovebox was heard and the 4x4 o 4 low was engaged, now theres no click, think it is something electric, anyone have an idea?
Check your relay behind the glove box. Could be stuck or dead. Make sure that there is power getting to it when the truck is running. Give it a couple of light smacks to see if it breaks loose, the try the push button again. If no power getting to it then start tracing back to see if there is a broken wire. If it has power, and doesnt release, try another relay. Should be able to get another fairly cheap. Also, before replacing the relay, make sure that the push button itself is working correctly. It should turn off with one push, on with another. check to see that the output is doing this. If it stays on after a couple of trys, try another switch. When it comes to the electrical, it could be almost anywhere. But hopefully I gave you a starting point.
you were trying to push the buttons with the gear selector in neutral right? Mine is a 96 and it has to be in N to go in or out of 4L. This is probably no help but hey, it never hurts to state the obvious.
yes, you're right, defenitely its an electrical problem, as i live in mexico its not easy for me to get a relay and test it, does anyone have a photgraph of a repair manual or something where thres a picture or diagram or the part number for the relay that controls this issue, and about how much is it?
