Yeah, Ford won't give you the bulbs, they manke you buy the whole assembly. I am working on a retrofit for all of these that have burnt out on mine that would replace them with LEDs instead. That way, they won't burn out anytime soon. I'll let you know how it goes.
Are you guys talking about the little indicator lights in the instrument control cluster?? Like the little 4x4 High, 4x4 Low, ABS, and the other lights in the dash?
If so, can you give me anymore details on these bulbs?? I have two of them burned out and the two radio shacks near me...well, the people working there do good to tie their own shoes.
You have any part number or model number or any info on these Radio Shack bulbs??
Actually, these are two different bulbs. The ones in the Climate Control/Radio/Message Center/Headlight Switch/Fog Light Switch/R Defog Switch/T-Case Selector Switch/and Rear Wiper Switch are all much smaller and integrated into the plastic socket that locks them into their respective places. These are $7.00 a piece at Ford, and Ford only. These are the ones I want to replace with LED.
The ones in the Instrument Cluster (not for backlighting) used for alert indications are larger, but still smaller than the backlight bulbs. They are obtainable at Radio Shack. I don't know the model number, but just bring one in with you for comparison.
Oh, and if you have a THEFT light on your cluster (95 and later) that is already an LED. It comes that was from the factory to support the super-fast blink it does every 2 seconds while armed.
