Automatic To Manual Conversion?
is a conversion to a manual tranny possible... with no major overhauling......i know there would be alot of work but if anyone has done this i could use the help

It's a lot easier to go to an automatic from a std tranny.
You'll need to address these issues:
Tranny will have to be from a 4x4 due to shaft length into the transfer case.
Bell housing must be compatible with the engine you have. They are not especially common and typically go for $50-100 on ebay.
You will need a clutch disc, pressure plate and flywheel to replace your torque converter and flex plate.
You'll need to find a pedal cluster and all brackets. Also whatever linkage and brackets you need for the release you pick. Mechanical linkage, hydraulic master/slave, internal hydraulic TO bearing, etc
Probably a dozen other things but this will get you started. I could do it but I'd be more inclined to go buy a 78 that is already a manual.
