speed sensor on 6.9 idi
i have a 1983 F-250 6.9 idi 4 speed manual and my problem is the speed sensor cable at the end of it that goes into the transfer case the gearing on the inside of the transfer case is completely gone, to the best of my knowledge the only way to fix it is to get a new transfer case but don’t really have the money or time for it, was wondering if anyone knows any other way to get a speedometer reading

Just use a cheap dash GPS unit. I don't know for sure but I thought the tail of the transfer case can be removed to access the speed sensor internals. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in here.
