My dad left a little bit of $$$ to my sister and I, but we've been going rounds over it with his wife.
As far as my sister and I are concerned she still owes us some, and we are going to have to sue her to get it, but some of the money got released to us, and my part was just slightly more than the payoff on my truck.
So, no more monthly payments!
Truck payment was the only thing beyond utilities and insurance that I had, so will be without any big monthlies again.
It was sure great after I paid my old RAM off, went almost two years without payments, hope to go a LOT longer this time!
Anyway, I made the payoff just as soon as I deposited the the money from dad, that way I won't have the time with it to figure something else to spend it on...
I did the same thing with the money I got from my dad's estate. There was enough to pay off my 2016 RAM which allowed me to be car payment free for the last few years. Saved enough with no payments going out plus equity in the RAM to pay out of pocket for my 2024 450.
JUST PAID MY TRUCK OFF!!!So, no more monthly payments!
It's a great feeling, ain't it? I paid off my 2017 early, then paid off my 2022 when I took delivery.
I still spend tons more for personal property tax (Virginia) and insurance than I do for gasoline (had the 2022 for 37 months now & haven't turned 12K miles yet).
Congratulations. I just paid mine off a month ago. It was my only payment also. My house is paid off, no other loans, just utilities and such. And being retired, life is great! Enjoy your no payments time. Until the next one comes along.....
I had a great business season and was able to pay mine off in 6 months this summer. It's a good feeling not having that albatross around my neck. LIke a few others have mentioned, it was my only payment.
Like ATC says, I've been throwing more than the payment amount into the bank. Most months!
Yeah, it really is screwy, for sure. It's a racket, the "credit score" game. It's like they only reward you with an excellent score if you're up to your eyeballs in debt, almost like they want you to be in that state...
