I have been a regulary reader of this forumn since I discovered it and it is GREAT. Now I have a concern about the function that turns the Overdrive off. I have a 2001 F-250SD XLT V10 Automatic. The truck has 12,000 miles on it. I pressed the switch at the end of the shift lever to disengage the Overdrive function and nothing happened, no OFF light and Overdrive stayed engaged. I have since checked the fuse (#19 on the inbside fuse panel) it is OK. I must say this is a truck that is used to plow about thirty driveways each storm, 100+ inched so far in my hometown located in central New Hampshire.
Any suggestion would be appreciated as I do not have a great deal of faith in my local dealer. Other than this problem I really like my SD.
Sounds to me like an electrical problem rather than a mechaincal one, bad switch? I dunno
Someone will be along with more input.
Maybe you can take the end cap off and use a test light to see that live juice is in fact making it to the switch, or maybe a connection underneath was inadvertantly disconnected from all the plowing?
Welcome to FTE!
Some guys were having problems with the switch itself and or the wiring that runs up the shift lever itself breaking.
2002 trucks use fuse #45 for overdrive cancel
did they change from 01
According to the Owners manual I have, this circuit is #19, as I remember it. I do not have the manual in front of me as I am writing this post at work. I will double check when I get home in the morning.
