I signed up in August after many, many years of absence. They offered it at $3.99/mo for a year, so for that price, I went for it. There are so many trees and mountains around here that in the summer time, SXM sounds like you're playing a CD you let your 5 year-old play with outside in the driveway. In the winter when the leaves are off the trees, is tolerable. A lot more commercials than I remember in the past That was one of the main points of satellite radio in the first place.
I think my wife has it @ $4 a month for two radios. Since my 2019 was less than a month left, she got a refund for a month, and I also think she got a 6 month extension on my new one, will see, either way I let her deal with it since I manage all the other bills for everything else. I think she also uses the only chat and not waste time on the phone.

All I listen to are strictly music channels and I never hear a commercial. Maybe a promo for one of their other channels now and then but no commercials. On the very rare occasion that I try one of the comedy channels out, I do indeed hear commercials. I never listen to any of the talk or news channels.
My only complaint with the music channels is if you listen every day, you wind up hearing the same songs played over and over again, with a rare occasion of one rarely heard. I would like a Country station between ******* Roadhouse and Prime Country. ******* is old school country, and Prime is mostly late 80's into 90's. There's a small portion of years missing that I would love to hear. I cannot stand this new country crap being put out, its nothing but the usual auto tune lets rhyme to 4 notes and canned beat BS. Heck Jelly Roll does more country like country than the majority of country artists. A guy that looks more PUNK than Country putting out a decent country song.
Ans we wonder why so many do covers of old songs these days, no one can write an actual tune these days that tells a story and is played with instruments instead of tracks.

That's the reason I never signed up, and don't have it in any of my vehicles.
I did 'try it out' in my wife's car and was completely floored by the tiny playlist they keep repeating.
I was naively under the impression that they'd have a huge song catalogue to choose from, yet they just play the same garbage over and over again.
What a huge waste of effort...no thanks!

No kidding, why bother having djs if they are only playing a limited number of songs.

I ran across one of their stations that plays the "Top 1000" rock songs, you'd have to listed for days before you would hear a song twice.
And, they change it up some each time it runs out.

There are a few of them on XM, and the APP, but cant listen to them if your radio is Sirius only. I think they are 300+ channel numbers.

1000? There's MILLIONS of songs out there.
And I guarantee two of those 1000 are "Stairway To Heaven" and "Tears In Heaven" either of which upon hearing just one more time will make me steer my brand new F250 into the nearest oak tree at full speed!
My last day of free trial was last Wednesday. Had received the letter offering $2 per month for 3 months, then $24.98 per month. Called the number on the letter, said 'new subscription' at the prompt, and had a person within 30 seconds. She took the account number from the letter, then 'checked' for the latest best deal. Offered $5.29 a month for a year for the truck and my cell phone. You can also use a computer or any smart device. Or use your phone with Android Auto/Apple Car Play to send to another car without service while you are in it.
Thought the deal was good enough that I also signed up the wife's car/phone, so $10.58 a moth including all fees/taxes. Where we go out for a burger/fries/iced tea/tax it is about $18 each, so seems like a good deal to me
For my 55 min commute in the morning, regular radio station had at least half that as talk. So the no commercials won me over. We bought the truck to tow our 30' travel trailer, so not having to look for regular radio stations every hour is a convenience. Maybe next year we will be tired of it and cancel. Just sucks that you have to call and negotiate for the 'deal' each year.
My sister has a new car where her XM expired 3 months ago. She called and was offered the same car/phone combo for $4.83 a month. I wasn't going to argue with them for the extra 46 cents, so I took their offer.

I didn't realize they could still be different platforms and thought they were one and the same since the merger. A search turned up this 6 year old reddit post but it does explain things that I never realized.
