I think I screwed up! I have an 88 f250 5.8lt with an 85 engine in it. I recently replaced the waterpump
But not thinking I got a pump for an 88 (it seemed to fit I mean it bolted up) I got it back together attempted to fill it with coolant and it leaked a
LOT from what appears to be the back of the pump!!! Again not thinking (see a pattern here) I had disposed of the original pump so I can't compare it to the new one. My question is did they make diffrent
waterpump's for 85 and 88 year models? Water streams out from what looks like the back of the pump! HELP! Any information would be greatly appreciated...
Yes. They are different. What timing cover and belt drive are you using? 1985 would be a standard rotation pump and V belts while the ‘88 has a serpentine belt and reverse rotation pump. Did you install the gasket between the pump and the timing cover?
