Originally posted by c96drumm Well, it IS a limited slip, so some slippage will occur. You say there is no spinning of one wheel, so I'm not too clear on what the problem is.
I WAS REFERING TO SPINNING ONE WHEEL A LOT TO WEAR OUT THE CLUTCHES
ONE WHEEL WILL SPIN NOW VERY EASY
If you are doing the work yourself (replacing the clutches) you can re-arrange them to increase the holding torque by about 30%. I will dig through some old mustang mags to find the procedure if you like. Worked for me on both my Ponies.
Originally posted by thwmathue did you allow proper breakin of the parts. all new barts require time to break in. around 1000 miles with oil changes at 200 and 500 miles.
I've never heard that before. Ford barely recommends to change the grease every 100000 miles.
Hey, Jim, what happened that made you need a new carrier in the first place? Did you get better wear before that? And do you do a whole lot of driving in slippery conditions?
Don't know how much help I can be, personally, I just thought that more info might help get more ideas for you. Good luck and keep us posted.
ford may not say anything about it but after market clutch makers recomend oil change at 200, 500, and every 5000 miles after that. this is off the instuctions i reseved with the clutch packs i just got for my truck (88 f-150 300 L6 4spd)
