Guys, I have a 2002 F-150. Is it possible to put on smaller wheels than the smallest option it came with? I would like to try 15 inch wheels to imrove ride quality. Suspension was checked by my local mechanic and it appears to be in good shape; bushings, control arms, etc. I see the smallest offered for 2002 was 16 inches. Can I put on smaller rotors to be able to fit a 15 inch wheel? Or do I have to get smaller calipers? Please help. Thank you.
Smaller rotors and calipers?
NO
Finding 15 inch wheels that fit your newer lug pattern will be hell if not impossible
That's where I would start, finding wheels
Then see if they clear your brake calipers
The tire you choose has a lot to do with the ride quality
Put a good set of Michelins tires on there and re evaluate
Glad the shop did not try to sell you Moog cargo coils
Sorry guys, been a busy few days. Sold the truck (I noticed a considerable amount of rust underneath, so I had to get rid of it) and now I'm back to just my car. In the market for another Ford, this time something a bit newer. I will make a thread about it here soon.
Good to know it's tough to find smaller rims for this kind of thing. I will keep this in mind when I search for another truck.
